About The NRC
We are a 4/5 piece band playing and singing songs influenced by the music of Old Timey, Appalachian and Americana music. You will also find us taking well known tunes and putting our own spin on them. We also have several of our own compositions adding even more depth to our repertoire. We really enjoy what we do and try to make sure our audiences do to by having fun, a bit of banter and of course plenty of foot stomping!
We all play an instrument and we all sing, sometimes at the same time! We've got a Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo Uke and Bass as well a the occasional whistle and tambourine
We are available to book for gigs, festivals and private functions. We have a full PA set up.
Our Journey started in late 2016..... Pete, Banjo Andrew and the other Andrew had known each other for a while playing in sessions at The Lounge at Bin 21 in Morpeth with other like-minded musicians. We decided to get together outside of the sessions, along with a couple of others, and formed a band. We all brought different ideas, sounds and songs along and it was clear from the start that we all got on and enjoyed the sound we were creating. Two members left after a few months due to other commitments but the 3 original Railroaders carried on. We had 2 or 3 others joining in over the next year or so and we were really excited to get Xan on bass in early 2018. Unfortunately Xan can't play with us all the time as he's currently studying Music at The Royal Academy in London. We welcomed Graeme to the band in August 2018 on Mandolin and vocals and he has really lifted the sound to a new level.
We've been entertaining various establishments in and around Morpeth and have traveled as far as Durham too. We continue to learn from each other and have evolved into a band with a unique sound and style
